What Are We Looking For?

Contentstack is looking for a Sales Engineer to join our expanding North American team! We are a little bit different than most companies where we love engineers to join our sales engineering team. If you are an engineer that loves working with people but doesn't want to be coding eight hours a day this role is for you!


  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Computer Science or equivalent four-year college technical degree.
  • Frontend Development Experience with JS expertise so you can create visually appealing websites.
  • Experience as a Sales Engineer in enterprise software is a +plus but technical experience is more valuable
  • Experienced selling enterprise SaaS software to IT is also a +plus
  • In-depth knowledge of REST APIs, microservices and popular web technologies is a must.
  • Understanding of client-side JavaScript, be comfortable writing scripts/code
  • Experience using version control system such as Git
  • Important:
  • Knowledge of NodeJS, ReactJS, VueJS or AngularJS
  • Experience with AWS Lambda or similar serverless coding
  • Understanding of CI/CD
  • BIG PLUS if you have experience with the content management industry or related industries such as commerce or marketing stack


  • Provide overall pre-sales leadership and support for new and existing customers.  
  • Actively participate in client meetings and presentations with Account Executives to identify technical requirements.
  • Confirm that Contentstack meets a prospect's requirements and provide technical expertise to the overall sales qualification process.
  • Articulate and demonstrate solutions, influence customer's technical requirements, and position products relative to the competition.
  • Ownership of all pre-sales documentation and technical lead on client proposals and questionnaires, such as RFIs, RFPs, and Security Reviews. 
  • Communicate new and trending client needs and potential, emerging market opportunities to product and engineering teams and influence product roadmaps.
  • Listen to and make it a mission to thoroughly understand what a customer is trying to achieve. Never pre-suppose or assume an answer or pre-determine solutions.
  • Work with Account Executives, Engineering and Customer Success teams to ensure successful delivery of solutions to customers and prospects.  
  • Ideate, create and demonstrate relevant product use cases and meaningful client scenarios featuring Contentstack to prospects and customers. Basically, your demos are jaw-droppers.
  • Help customers design and identify POC’s and provide support throughout the evaluation process.
  • Travel, as needed, to prospects, partner sites, and industry events (post-COVID) - we are currently not traveling and working from home but will resume once its safe.
  • Maintain an in-depth level of technical and industry knowledge.
  • Work with the implementation partners throughout the sales process and assist with documentation to successfully scope and size client engagements that include a combination of Contentstack and partner technologies and services.
