We are an independent marketplace for artists and developers to buy and sell professional add-ons and resources for the open source 3D creation suite, Blender.

Our goal is to enable anyone to make a healthy and sustainable livelihood for themselves with Blender.

We are hiring a full-time Ruby on Rails web developer to help us continue making Blender Market the best place to buy and sell professional assets and resources in the Blender Community.

Blender Market is built by the crew behind, a community platform for learning 3D Animation and Game Development. We don't do much actual baking but when we do plain oatmeal are the best 🍪

We are in search of someone to join our small team to polish and improve the Blender Market experience.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Solving bug reports and improving existing features
  • Polishing and writing new full-stack Rails code, especially for the front end
  • Building new features for customers and creators with direction from a lead developer
  • Answering text check-ins about twice a week, working independently in a remote environment

Prerequisite skills:

  • 2+ years Ruby on Rails experience
  • Javascript + jQuery
  • SCSS
  • Git

Nice to have skills:

  • Test suite experience including RSpec and/or Javascript testing libraries
  • Experience integrating with external APIs
  • AWS (S3, EC2, CloudFront, etc) experience
  • Remote work experience
  • Ecommerce experience

The position is 100% remote and starts at $60,000 / year + benefits. A new MacBook Pro or Air will also be provided.

What is your Interview process like?

After applications have been reviewed the top candidates will be invited for a candid phone interview. Typically we'll do a phone interview with the top 5-10 applicants, followed by a second or third interview with another member of the team.

Depending on your experience, we may ask for some sample Rails projects, but typically commit history on GitHub is sufficient.

What efforts are you making in terms of increasing diversity & inclusion within your company?

We're very inclusive yet not remotely diverse. Frankly, we're mostly a team of white dudes that frequently forget how easy it is to take equality for granted.

It was never our intent to be a predominantly white, male team but it happened and we want to change that.

The last few years have made us very uncomfortable with the uniformity in our team and we intend to change that.

We believe differing opinions and backgrounds are inherently healthy and promotes a more meaningful workplace.
