ThinkShout is a full service digital agency committed to putting people and the planet first. We believe technology is integral to make lasting social change, and we leverage digital products to tell the stories of progressive organizations who are doing just that.
We are ThinkShout, a Portland-grown, certified B Corp dedicated to delivering exceptional web development, design, user experience, and strategy to the nonprofits and forward-thinking organizations that inspire us. We’re looking for a Technical Architect and we’d love to hear from you.
Technical Architects at ThinkShout are the leaders of the development teams that deliver world-class open source solutions built with Drupal, WordPress, PHP, Static Site Generators or anything else that serves our clients. Technical Architects work closely with clients and project leadership in managing the Software Development team. They develop specifications and budgets, review code, and architect solutions that address client needs.
You’ll love this job because of our culture and the opportunity you’ll have to work directly with good people making real change in the world. The team at ThinkShout values working together because we’ve created a supportive environment where we can share our expertise and learn from each other.
You’ll appreciate and enjoy the work because you believe in the missions of the nonprofits and organizations we serve. The time you invest into the nonprofits we serve will have a significant impact locally, throughout the country and around the world. You’ll go home at night knowing you used energy and skills for something you can be proud of.
What we’re looking for:
Experience as a tech lead for development teams.
Experience working directly with clients or stakeholders.
Experience developing with Drupal and/or WordPress with a strong preference for leading Drupal projects.
You can leverage devops, continuous integration, and services such as CircleCI to craft development and deployment workflows.
You understand how to bridge the gap between real world problems and the technology that solves them.
You have an interest in exploring new and emergent web technologies and concepts.
You want to make a commitment to our team, work, community, and clients.
How you’ll spend your time:
Create estimates for upcoming projects.
Conduct code reviews and provide mentorship and feedback to other developers.
Lead client demos and interactions in partnership with Project and Account Managers.
Collaborate with the Strategy and UX teams to develop project specifications.
Develop budgets, user stories, and implementation plans with other project leads.
Estimate development progress and assess risks during the implementation phase of projects.
Identify new technologies and development practices to provide the best possible guidance to our internal team and clients.

We are committed to becoming an anti-racist organization. We will not shy away from difficult conversations as we better understand how anti-Blackness has shown up at ThinkShout in the past, and what we must do to develop pro-Black and pro-Indigenous strategies and systems now and for the future. Engaging in these conversations is a critical way for us to get out on the field and practice - we most certainly will not get it right every time, but if we sit on the sidelines we will never make progress towards becoming a more equitable, inclusive organization.
Inclusivity is a core value at ThinkShout. ThinkShout is committed to fostering, cultivating and preserving a culture of equity, diversity, and inclusion. A diverse workplace strengthens the work of all employees, ensures that the organization has the strongest staff possible, and enables all employees to collectively and more completely pursue the fulfillment of our mission, vision and values.
