Kenzie Academy is a design and coding school breaking down the barriers to entering tech and challenging the oppressive student loan system. We offer a 1-year program as a new alternative to traditional colleges. We aim to tackle a major opportunity gap in America by developing a new talent pool. We’ll achieve this by applying a forward-thinking education model, including project-based learning, critical thinking, and soft-skills training.

The Role:

Student Success Advisor at Kenzie Academy is responsible for ensuring that all students who go through the Kenzie Academy program are on pathways of success. This person will help students stay focused through the program so they can unlock their future in a tech career.

What you'll do:

  • Provides academic, proactive, and developmental advising for all students via in-person, phone, or electronic communication using the Zoom platform.

  • Provide weekly status reports on successes and areas of focus regarding student population related to academic and attendance performance.

  • Track, Monitor, and ensure students who fall below grade expectations are placed on remediation and success pathways.

  • Participates in day to day advising and retention operations, general administration, and special projects that include orientation, graduation, Final Fridays, and other various Kenzie Events

  • Handle student conflicts and disputes that violate Kenzie Academy’s code of conduct

  • Handle student conversations with a positive, proactive attitude with a willingness to always help

  • Other duties assigned

About You:

  • Ability to navigate Google Sheets using filters and pivot tables.

  • Ability to comfortably use tech platforms like Slack, Airtable, and Hubspot

  • Can work independently, manage multiple tasks, and ensure tracking quality is met

  • Ability to demonstrate positive, customer centric attitude through difficult conversations

  • Maintain a positive attitude and willingness to proactively solve problems

Nice to have:

  • 1-2 years of experience working in a student coaching, advising, or support services role

Kenzie vs. Coding Bootcamps

Kenzie Academy addresses the gap between four-year universities and short term coding bootcamps. As advancements in tech continue to accelerate, traditional universities are struggling to keep up with the latest programming technologies. While coding bootcamps attempt to tackle the skills gap through six to twelve week programs, they produce graduates who are not yet ready to fill the stringent demand of today's employers. Kenzie believes one-year programs are better at preparing graduates for the job market.

First you will interview with the VP of Student Success (discovery call), then you will interview with a few members of the team, group style Finally a culture interview
