Committee for Children is on a mission to ensure that children everywhere can thrive. Since 1979 we’ve championed the cause of educating the whole child through advocacy, leadership in the field, and programs in social-emotional learning (SEL), and child safety.

In our pursuit of positively transforming the social-emotional well-being of 100 million children annually by 2028, Committee for Children is looking for an experienced senior ux designer to join our team! In this role, you will be an integral part of a product team and creation of user-centered designs for Committee for Children’s digital products. This role will primarily serve as the user’s advocate throughout the development process and ensure that excellent user experience is at the core of the product.

Primary Responsibilities Include

  • Design highly interactive user experiences in web-based and other digital applications across devices and platforms

  • Conduct user research and develop user experience standards and requirements

  • Utilize design thinking methods to inform product design decisions

  • Develop flow diagrams, conceptual diagrams, and wireframes

  • Build interactive prototypes

  • Collaborate with developers, product managers, business users, and visual designers throughout the planning and development lifecycle

  • Work directly with developers to ensure designs are implemented as effective user experiences

  • Develop documented personas and user scenarios

  • Guide the early design process: conduct stakeholder interviews and interpret business requirements to inform creation and prioritization of website content, features, and functionality

  • Design and execute usability testing, including incorporating feedback into future plans

  • Participate in product strategy discussions representing the user experience perspective

Qualifications

  • 5 – 7+ years’ experience as a UX Designer or closely related field

  • Experience working with information and interaction architecture

  • A strong online portfolio showcasing experience creating exceptional user-centered design solutions (workflows, prototypes, wireframes)

  • Expert knowledge of wireframing/prototyping tools

  • Experience working in an agile environment

  • Outstanding overall communication skills (verbal, written, and visual) and can convey complex ideas to a variety of audiences

  • Skillful at solving problems with enthusiasm and creativity using a hands-on approach

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to self-manage deliverables and communicate effectively with stakeholders and other team members

  • Ability to work on multiple projects and timelines while maintaining attention to detail

  • Open to receiving objective criticism and proactively improving upon it

  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance of set work schedule

Working Environment

  • General office with moderate computer use
