Edquity is an anti-poverty technology company based in Brooklyn, NY that helps colleges improve students’ basic needs and financial security by increasing access to emergency resources and funding. To help students, including the 3 million who drop out every year due to a time sensitive financial crisis, Edquity provides partner colleges with a white-labeled mobile app and web platform that helps students overcome financial emergencies. With Edquity, students can apply for emergency cash grants, discover emergency resources, receive personalized financial management, and more.

In the wake of COVID-19, students need Edquity more than ever, and Edquity is quickly scaling to ensure it can support millions of students during this terrible crisis.

Edquity has raised over $6.5MM in funding from some of the leading impact and postsecondary success investors and has also received support from foundations like the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Job Overview:

Edquity seeks a Senior Product Designer to champion design initiatives that help our students fight poverty. The Senior Product Designer will drive the design process to create solutions that address the nuanced basic needs challenges that students face. This position will be fundamental to defining our product strategy and design, working with the product team to create impactful, usable, and delightful products.


  • Collaborate with product, user research, engineering, and other stakeholders to understand problems and propose impactful, thoughtful solutions

  • Communicate design solutions at every level of fidelity -- from sketches, wireframes, flow diagrams, storyboards, to high fidelity prototypes

  • Ground solutions in a deep empathy for the lived experience of student users and practitioners serving these users

  • Contribute to effective documentation of solutions, frequently interacting with engineers during the implementation process

  • Steward the development and iteration of Uplift, Edquity’s design system


  • Experience in a product design role, preferably embedded within a cross-functional product team

  • Strong record of shipping design solutions that solve problems for users

  • The ability to maintain and iterate on a design system

  • An understanding of and passion for our product and the problems it works to solve for college students facing basic needs insecurities

  • Track record of thoughtful verbal and written communication

  • Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail

  • A high level of empathy and a positive attitude
