The Zalando Community of Practice brings together over 100+ product designers, each with our own unique mix of skills (Strategy, UX, UI, Service Design and specialty skills like motion design, branding, creative technology and typography).

Product Designers lead this charge on a variety of missions within a diverse range of business units. This one listing represents a variety of openings within Zalando: B2C work driving our core business; B2B work that well help us achieve our platform strategy; and employee-facing (B2E) software design to make us all more effective.

You will work in cross-functional teams in close cooperation with developers, product managers, business stakeholders and other designers. Teams work with end-to-end responsibility for solving meaningful customer problems — from ideating through prototyping and user testing to bringing features live and checking their performance.

WHERE YOUR EXPERTISE IS NEEDED

Act as a customer advocate throughout the process while being a great sparring partner to our product managers.

  • Discover unmet needs for Zalando products and identify opportunities to make them more powerful and usable. Drive user research along the customer journey to discover pain points and needs.

  • Define and break down the complexity of various products into a seamless and enjoyable experience. Help to define problem statements using the generated insights to make sure we’re working on the right problems and opportunities.

  • Design inspiring human-centered solutions. Bring concepts to life by iteratively creating prototypes at all levels of fidelity. Leverage user frameworks and data to identify opportunities to reduce complexity and simplify the user journey.

  • Deliver the best designs by shepherding them through to implementation. Provide excellent and clearly detailed documentation of designs to engineers.

  • You leverage qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, translating insights into product design concepts

  • You are willing to solve problems by generating and iterating on multiple solutions

  • You facilitate and communicate clearly and convincingly in English (sharing knowledge and insights, explaining design rationales, building common understanding, spreading excitement around a customer experience vision, etc.)

What is your Interview process like?

We do not do online or take-home tests. We conduct interviews via Google Meet (video call). We have ask people to critique presentation and have a virtual whiteboard exercise.

What efforts are you making in terms of increasing diversity & inclusion within your company?

To ensure the availability of resources and expertise for D&I, Zalando has developed a dedicated taskforce. In 2018, the new full-time role of Senior Diversity & Inclusion Officer was created, to manage operational and strategic responsibilities with a view to furthering Zalando’s D&I goals. We have also appointed a Health and Equality manager to facilitate the Discrimination reporting process, as well as an Accessibility & Inclusion Manager within the Corporate Real Estate team, whose role it is to ensure a more accessible working environment for all our staff.

In addition to these key players, our community groups play a vital role in our ongoing prioritization of Diversity and Inclusion at Zalando.
