Shogun, and we're on a mission to help people create the best eCommerce experiences in the world.

We were in the Winter 2018 batch of Y-Combinator, we just raised a Series A investment, we have over 10,000 active paying clients, and we're preparing to launch a new product in 2020 (you can read more in Tech Crunch).

Our teams are fully distributed and global (check out our team page)! We have no office, so we are looking for team members that are comfortable with and motivated by the opportunity to work remotely.

You Are

Meticulous and exceptionally organized. You're curious, love to solve problems, and you often notice things others miss. You're an exceptional communicator with an affinity for quality.

In This Role You Will

  • Establish best practices and procedures for defining User Acceptance Tests and ensure the delivery of high-quality products.

  • Work with stakeholders to determine User Acceptance Tests and System Tests.

  • Write test documentation such as test cases, scenarios, and create test data

  • Reverse engineer and understand business requirements by analyzing the existing system to develop test plans, test scenarios, test cases & test data.

  • Perform root-cause analysis of identified failures.

  • Deploys code into QA environment, as needed.

  • Identify defects and recommend appropriate course of action.

  • Monitor and track quality related issues and problems through resolutions.

  • Analyze requirements or User Stories across products and applications to identify acceptance criteria, testing cases, and test scenarios.

  • Involved in the preparation of Test Estimation, Test Strategy/Plan, Test Case Execution, and Defect report.

You Have

  • 2+ of experience using the full spectrum of software testing methodologies on web and non-web based applications.

  • On the JavaScript side: Cypress, React Testing Library, Jest and TypeScript experience.

  • On the Ruby side: Cucumber, Capybara, RSpec and Rails experience.

  • Basic SQL database query knowledge.

  • Knowledge of programming concepts and some experience in a software programming language.

  • Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools and processes.

  • Demonstrated experience in writing clear, concise and comprehensive test plans and test cases.

  • Working experience using Defect Management tools.

  • Working experience with Negative Testing.

  • Strong communication skills, as will need to be in touch with other teams.

Nice-to-Have

  • Knowledge in web application UI models and how components interact via internet protocols (HTTP, SSL, Email, SOAP, XML, etc.).

  • Experience with Scrum, XP, or other Agile methodologies.

  • Experience in Web service testing.

  • Experienced in performance test tools (JMeter, Grinder, etc.).

  • Experience in back-end testing using SQL.

  • Experience with source control tools preferred.

  • Prior experience working remotely.

  • Prior experience working for a startup.

What is your Interview process like?

The interview process is generally 3 or 4 video conference interviews. For many positions we will also ask for 3 references, and contact all of them. Some roles have a paid test component (i.e. design test for UI designers) or a short contract period (i.e. 1-2 weeks engineering contract work at a premium hourly) before final decision. The interview process is generally 1-3 weeks depending on the complexity of the role. If we end up passing on someone’s candidacy, they will receive a polite email notifying them of our decision. For more sensitive circumstances, or situations where we might feel the candidacy may be valid for a future role, we would give a call.
