Office Hours is a knowledge-sharing platform that helps people get paid to share their unique professional experiences.

Office Hours is an online knowledge-sharing marketplace. We connect experts in their respective fields with people looking to better understand what they know best. From learning more about a new industry to answering specific questions around a unique medical procedure, we’re building the fastest, most trusted method for facilitating conversations between knowledge seekers and knowledge holders.

Our team is headquartered in San Francisco and backed by top online marketplaces operators and investors including CRV, Susa Ventures, the founder of Thumbtack, former Head of Product at Pinterest, and Lenny Rachitsky. From our beta-launch in May, our customers include fast-growing healthcare startups, leading venture investors, consulting firms, and software companies.

What we believe

We believe that human knowledge is one of the most underutilized assets in the world. Tom Goodwin was on to something when he said, “Uber, the world’s largest taxi company, owns no vehicles. And Airbnb, the world’s largest accommodation provider, owns no real estate.” Office Hours is introducing knowledge into the sharing economy by making the process of acquiring it as easy as ordering a car or booking a home.

About the role

  • Being our first designer and early team member, you’ll not only have an outsized impact on our brand and product experience but on the company as a whole.

  • You’ll own the end-to-end design process from talking with users through high-fidelity designs across all aspects of the product experience – external and internal.

  • In addition to designing net-new initiatives, you’ll help scale our team’s design efforts by creating and maintaining brand guidelines and design systems.

  • You’ll ship… a lot, and have a blast doing so.

About you

  • 3+ years designing digital products. You have experience building beautiful, thoughtful web and mobile products.

  • Visual design is a core strength of yours. In Don Norman’s three levels of design, visceral execution feels second nature due to your strong command of type, hierarchy, space, and color.

  • Detail-oriented. You think beyond polished empty states and smooth animations to little big details like conference line greetings and Google Calendar invitation descriptions.

  • Bias toward action. You leverage your communication skills as a designer by not just sharing your ideas, but showing your ideas.

  • Great communication. You’re comfortable working with multiple stakeholders and you communicate effectively about the technical aspects of your designs.

  • Bonus: You have experience and/or are interested in taking on creative direction and brand initiatives.

  • Bonus: You have experience working on marketplaces and care equally about chickens and eggs.
