MOD-Lab is a strategic design studio that supports nonprofits and social good companies with impactful websites, marketing materials, and collateral.

Great designs marry strategy, presentation, and code to boost the confidence of small but mighty teams to better tell their stories, ask for support, build their following, deliver their tools and resources, and advocate for change.

We are a virtual studio with all team members working remotely.

Lead Website, Web-Application Developer (Supporting Nonprofits)

We are looking for an experienced and well rounded website and web application developer with both backend and frontend experience to enhance our team at MOD-Lab. The position is a full-time, salaried, remote position for an individual with established residence in the US.

General Requirements

Our ideal team member shares in being extremely thoughtful about their work. This extends to code quality, efficiency in work, and pro-active communications skills. They are motivated to have our clients’ mission be their own. They appreciate that their code is a means to help drive that mission forward.

  • Freelance or Agency Experience (small or large) — must have experience working on multiple projects during the work week.

  • Front and Backend — must have diverse web development experience including backend and frontend for both marketing website and web-applications.

  • Meticulous about quality — must be able to test own work, suggest solutions and techniques that improve quality

  • Excellent communication skills — must be able to communicate to both technical and non-technical audiences, must seek out opportunities to talk work out to work through challenges and manage risk pro-actively

  • Experience working remotely with a distributed team

Our Technology Stack

These technologies/standards are used on multiple projects. Experience with these is important.

  • PHP: Laravel

  • MySQL

  • Javascript: Vue.js - SPA

  • HTML: WCAG Level AA Accessibility Compliance

  • CSS: Tailwind

  • Git

  • CMS: Statamic

  • Automated Testing: Unit Testing, Browser Testing

We also support websites with the following technologies. Experience with any of these is a plus.

  • PHP: Yii

  • Javascript: Alpine.js

  • Twig

  • DevOps: CI/CD, Docker

  • Web Server Management

  • CMS: CraftCMS

  • SSG: Hugo
