We’re looking for talented engineers who want to help build Clever into something every household, school, student, and teacher relies on.


In the Identity team, we strive to eliminate complexity and provide seamless and dependable access to learning resources. Our products include:

  • Clever Single Sign-On: Clever offers SSO for thousands of learning resources. One username and password unlocks any app on any device for students, teachers, and staff.
  • Clever Badges: Invented here—fast and fun logins. Even the youngest learners can start their lessons immediately and without help in their favorite apps.
  • Clever Analytics: Analytics made easy for everyone. Built in response to remote learning, these tools became critical in identifying and closing access gaps.

We work across the full stack with ownership on the end-to-end experience for our users. We write frontend code in Node.js, TypeScript, and React and use Go for backend. We also use MongoDB, Postgres, DynamoDB, and many AWS services (AWS Glue, ECS, Step Functions, etc).


  • 3+ years of experience as a Software Engineer
  • Experience building backend systems, experience in golang a plus
  • Led projects and collaborated with teams to create meaningful impact
  • Strong fundamentals in computer science and software engineering
  • The drive to learn and teach through collaboration and code reviews
  • A desire to work in a diverse, fast-paced and highly collaborative team environment
  • Nice to have: experience with batch and/or streaming and data processing
  • Nice to have: experience with SSO, authentication and authorization technologies

At Clever, we value a holistic hiring process and want to get to know the candidate both technically and non-technically. We believe interviewing is not only a time for the team to interview the candidate, but the candidate is also interviewing us! Our interview process is follows:

a 30 minute phone call with your recruiter, a 30 minute 1:1 conversation with the hiring manager via Zoom, a technical architecture assessment with 2 of our team members and lastly the virtual onsite interview. Throughout each session, and with each individual the candidate meets, the candidate is given time to ask the interview questions as well. 

In the final round, you have a chance to meet a cross-functional product team member, spend more time with your future manager and complete two more technical assessments: a coding session and a networking interview. All of our technical assessments are extremely collaborative as it is a chance for the interviewers and the candidates to see what it would be like to truly work together! The candidate is also not tested on a specific language or framework and is given the opportunity to work in the language they feel most comfortable in. Prior to the virtual onsite, the recruiter will hold a 30 minute prep call with the candidate to walk through their schedule, who they will be meeting and what will be covered in each session.
