JOB DESCRIPTION

As an Associate UX Researcher you will work closely with other members of the UX Research team, UX Designers, Product Managers, as well as Business Stakeholders. While your day to day will vary as different projects arise, this role is focused on executing qualitative research to improve user experience of our digital products (consumer website & app; retail systems & internal tools). For example, you will support existing projects through secondary research. You will also own small projects end-to-end (i.e. identifying research questions, designing and implementing studies, conducting analysis, and communicating results to team members and stakeholders). This role places an emphasis on learning and professional development, and you will be given opportunities to grow your skill set to more complex projects and methodologies. With every project you will design your study and also present back your findings to stakeholders—so critical thinking and strong communication skills are essential.

This team also places a strong emphasis on research rigor; a strong foundation in the basics of conducting research is a must. That said, to succeed in this role as an Associate UX Researcher, having strong critical thinking skills and a willingness to learn is more important than years of experience.

Essential Qualifications

  • Experience designing and conducting UX Research studies (for example: card sorts, tree tests, usability testing, competitor analysis, qualitative interviews)
  • Ability to effectively analyze and translate data into meaningful, actionable business findings
  • Strong critical thinking skills—ability to dig and get to the root of a problem or question
  • Strong communications and presentation skills—ability to effectively advocate for the user to various audiences
  • A curious mindset—willingness to feel uncomfortable as you learn new skills
  • A self-starter—ability to identify new opportunities/challenges that will help us better serve our customers, stakeholders, and business
  • Strong project management and time management skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Formalized education in Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology or a related field
  • Demonstrated experiencing leveraging research to impact business outcomes
  • Experience with UX Design or Product Management
  • Experience in quantitative research methodologies
  • Background in e-commerce/retail is a plus

INTERVIEW PROCESS

The interview process at URBN is 3 steps: phone screen with Talent, phone screen with the Hiring Manager and then a final panel interview with multiple team members.
