Zendesk is looking for a Creative Director who can lead the Brand Design Team, build bridges with our partners in other departments, and guide the growth and evolution of our brand’s look and feel.

This is a creative role, but it’s as much about leadership as execution. You will be an experienced designer, manager, and inspire-r who can elevate, grow, and scale the team.

The day-to-day:

  • Make Zendesk look like Zendesk

  • Lead, manage and scale the Brand Design team

  • Inspire the team to deliver super siq design work—that also lines up with our business strategy and mission

  • Help control the speed and frenzy of a fast growing company with super smart design system thinking

  • Work closely with our partners in Marketing, Sales, Product, People Ops, and beyond to define and align our creative work with company-wide business initiatives

  • Work cross-functionally with the full Creative Team—including Copy, Video, Experiences, Presentation Design, Product Design, and Design Ops to develop creative direction for campaigns, partnerships, product launches, events, and more, while ensuring cohesive execution across all brand touchpoints

  • Help onboard and guide the work of creative agencies

  • Represent the Zendesk Creative Team publicly: blog posts, tweets, design community outreach, and shmoozing at events

The bigger picture:

Zendesk is a fast growing company, and our brand has been a big factor in our success. The Design Team is at the heart of the action, working on everything from tweets to t-shirts, billboards to boardroom presentations. We need a Creative Director who can help us handle it all—and that means wearing a lot of different hats. You will need to be the face of the Zendesk Design Team, speaking at Town Halls, and out in the design community at large. You will need to collaborate with all brand disciplines, and help build a better connection to the product design practice. And you will need to act as creative lead on high visibility brand projects. (Also, if you already have a hat that says “creative lead,” that would be like, super convenient.)

In short, we need The. Best. Creative. Director. Ever. The ideal candidate is someone who can inspire the team, foster collaboration, and help creative leadership solve all the tricky riddles that come with riding a rocket ship to the top of the tech company sales charts. The work can be challenging, but with a super talented team of designers, writers, animators, and videographers at your back, it will always be worth it.


  • 10+ years of creative agency experience (or equivalent)
  • Experience working in-house would be good; B2B experience would be great
  • Exceptional presentation and communication skills
  • Strong sense of design sensibilities, from high level strategic direction down to small design details
  • Ability to collaborate and incorporate people from across the team
  • A deep understanding of what goes in the box, as well as the ability to think outside of it
  • A college degree – or a good story about why you don’t have one

A lot of B2B technology companies like to overcomplicate things. Not us. We always strive for beautiful minimalism – in both our product and our marketing.
