PRIMARY PURPOSE: To partner with stakeholders to identify, scope, and execute advanced analytics and data science projects; to design data modeling processes, create algorithms, and predictive models; and to share insights that inform and enable business decisions.


  • Builds, prototypes, and deploys machine learning models in production environments.
  • Collaborates with product, technology, and other stakeholders to identify and scope data science projects.
  • Communicates modeling challenges, findings, and outcomes to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Designs and implements end-to-end ETL (extract, transform, load) data pipelines integrating data from multiple data sources.
  • Explores new internal and external data sources and assesses their commercial benefit.
  • Mentors team members and serves as a subject matter expert in cross-functional discussions.


  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Travels as required.


Education & Licensing
Master’s degree or Ph.D. with major in statistics, mathematics, computer science, data science, economics, or related quantitative field from an accredited college or university preferred.

Ten (10) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience to include three (3) years of predictive modeling, data science, and analysis experience with solid background in the using data visualization tools and libraries and data exploration, data wrangling, and feature engineering. Experience with natural language processing and healthcare data preferred.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Proficiency writing code in Python or R and documenting for reproducibility
  • Strong knowledge of reviewing other’s models and code
  • Ability to use data visualization tools and libraries
  • Strong data exploration, data wrangling and feature engineering skills
  • Knowledge of application of supervised/unsupervised ML techniques
  • Thorough knowledge of SQL to query relational databases
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills
  • PC literate, including Microsoft Office products
  • Analytical and interpretive skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to create and complete comprehensive, accurate and constructive written reports
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to meet or exceed Performance Competencies

3 stages:

  1. Interview Call with Recruiter
  2. Hiring Manager Screen
  3. (Virtual) On-site
  • Project Review (45 – 60 mins): Candidate will prepare a 30-minute presentation (slides highly recommended) on a model they’ve built in the past, reflecting their interests and approach as a Data Scientist
    - 15 minutes after the candidate’s presentation will be reserved for Q&A from the audience
    - Candidate should plan to discuss the full history of the model: problem definition, data collection and processing, model design, training, validation, evaluation, implementation, and next steps/future work
    - Candidate will be presenting to a technically and methodologically literate audience, so detail will be appreciated
  • Case Study (45 – 60 mins): Candidate will be provided a scenario and asked to engage in a brainstorming session to develop a solution (no live-coding involved)
  • Meet the Team (30 -45 mins): Candidate will have the opportunity to meet several team members to ask questions about our work, day-to-day, culture, etc
