State Voices is a national network – built from the states up – that helps grassroots organizations win civic engagement victories and build long-term political power. Since 2008, we’ve been employing the principles of collective impact, building the capacity of partners with data analysis and shared resources, and strengthening our democracy by amplifying the voices of marginalized communities. State Voices sustains a dynamic ecosystem of 24 state tables and organizations in every state, comprising over 1,200 partner organizations. We provide the organizations in our network with the data, tools, and support they need to help create a healthy and thriving democracy through a racial equity lens. We advance this work through three national programs: Civic Engagement (voter education, registration and turnout, issue advocacy, and constituency engagement), Civic Access (voting rights and election administration), and Civic Representation (census and redistricting). It’s our collective duty to end the systemic, relentless disenfranchisement targeting Black, Indigenous, Latinx, AAPI, and all communities of color, young adults, LGBTQ people, women, low-income, and all oppressed people. POSITION OVERVIEW

The State Voices Data and Technology Senior Training Manager oversees all aspects of training, education, curriculum, and training materials for State Voices partners and staff. The Senior Data & Technology Training Manager will onboard all new state data staff, and serve as the primary national VAN administrator for table states. They will also plan and lead our monthly webinar training series. This position will work at the direction of the State Voices Director of Data and Technology and will oversee a Data Projects Manager.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

Principal responsibilities for the Senior Data & Technology Training Manager include:

• Develop and implement a national training program and webinar series for the State Voices network around: best practices for data use, targeting, Voter Activation Network (VAN), and other tools.
• Work with the National Data Team and the state Data Managers to improve standards around training curriculums and materials for national and state-based trainings.
• Create and update training materials, guides, and videos for state table staff and partners.
• Assist with the hiring of state table data staff. Onboard, mentor, and train new state table data staff.
• Work to consistently improve upon the onboarding and mentorship process for new state table data staff.
• Provide updates on the onboarding progress to the managers of new data staff.
• Hold relationships and weekly meetings with our largest vendors, and serve as the intermediary between them and state table staff. Assist in the review of contracts with those vendors.
• Provide consultation and advice to state table staff on the most effective use of data to help accomplish their organizational and programmatic goals.
• Respond to support tickets through VAN and Freshdesk.
• Support the State Voices Data Certification Program: VAN track as needed. Run weekly office hours for the program.
• Serve as the lead national VAN administrator for table states. Assist with the administration and support of other tools as needed.
• Participate in weekly check-ins with the national data team and interdepartmental meetings.
• Manage a Data Projects Manager.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will possess many, if not all, of the following qualifications:

•  4+ years of experience using, training on, and administering VAN is a must.
• Experience developing VAN training materials is a plus.
• Proven ability to train non-technical audiences on the use of software tools.
• Public speaking or teaching, especially explaining the use of technology and data to non-technical people.
• Experience running webinars and online training/presenting.
• Experience with dialer and texting platforms.
• Experience with voter files, voter file vendors, data, and databases.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Diplomatic, professional approach to problem-solving while working independently or on a team.
• Must be a self-starter, very organized, a good communicator, and be able and willing to work long, irregular hours as needed.
• Must be able to manage several tasks and projects concurrently and prioritize work effectively.
• Background in 501c3 work or the desire to work with progressive organizations.
• Comfortable working in a diverse community with people who have diverse backgrounds and experiences.

Compensation: The salary range for this position is $75,000 – $90,000 Location: Remote
